Gettext PO and POT, with references intact
PO is the format translators already know: `msgctxt` disambiguation, translator comments and source references. LocalizationHub keeps all of it when it reads the file, and writes it back on export.
Read directly
msgidandmsgstrincluding escaped, multi-line strings.msgctxtdisambiguation, kept as context on the entry rather than merged away.- Translator comments (
#) and source references (#:) shown with the entry instead of being dropped. - Arabic and CJK content survives the round trip, including the export back to PO.
- Explicit context written in comments (
# Speaker: Mark,# Scene: School Hallway) becomes real dialogue context, and the comments stay on the entry.
Known limits
- Plural forms (
msgid_pluralwithmsgstr[n]) are built by the extraction path, where the plural index is known. Opening a PO file directly readsmsgid/msgstr/msgctxt. - A catalogue with no
msgidentries is reported as empty instead of passing silently. - The catalogue header (
Plural-Forms, project metadata) is not re-emitted: an exported catalogue is rebuilt from its entries.
Statuses come from the project’s tested compatibility record. Every “read directly” line was validated against real game files or fixtures; partial support is written as partial, and an external tool is named as a tool you configure yourself.
